Strong southwest winds have drifted up to 10 inches of new snow and created the potential for naturally released or human triggered slides in excess of three feet in depth on a variety of aspects. Heavy snow and strong winds will continue to create whiteout conditions and are likely to cause temporary road closures. Up to 14 inches of additional snow is expected in the mountains. Temperatures at 10,000 feet will be in the single digits. Ridge crest winds are forecast to be southwesterly at 50 with gusts to 70 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be HIGH. Human triggered and naturally released slab avalanches are likely. New soft slabs up to three feet in depth could step down to deeper persistent weak layers of faceted snow.
