Strong southwest winds have formed soft surface slabs up to three feet deep at the upper elevations and one to two feet deep at the mid elevations. Yesterday these slabs were easily triggered by single skiers. Starting zones in and below cliffbands were especially active. Skiers in Granite Canyon observed a slab in the Spock Chute that ran to the creek. The Wyoming Department of Transportation triggered avalanches in the Twin Slide avalanche path that ran to the road and on the Glory Bowl avalanche path that ran to just above the road. Similar events are likely to be triggered today. At the lower elevations isolated pockets of slab up to one foot in depth could be triggered in steep wind loaded starting zones, steep banks and road cuts.
