Avalanche Summary

You could trigger an avalanche where winds are drifting new snow onto lee slopes. Avalanches could be larger in areas that pick up more than about 8 inches of new snow. Cracking or collapsing in drifted snow is a sign of an unstable slope and an indication to move to lower-angle, wind-sheltered terrain.
