An Avalanche Watch is in effect for the Park Range. New snow and strong winds will create very dangerous avalanche conditions starting Saturday night and lasting through Sunday. Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended during this time.
On Saturday, you can trigger an avalanche on recently drifted slopes that sit directly below the ridgetop. These avalanches can break 1 to 2 feet deep on weaker layers of snow and or crusts. Avoid these wind-drifted slopes to greatly reduce your chance of triggering an avalanche.
