Highlights

The hazard will increase as warming temperatures and sunshine combine to soften well developed melt-freeze crusts. Once these crusts have softened wet slides are possible on steep sunlit aspects. In areas with a shallow snowpack and weak faceted snow these wet slides could release to the ground. Avoid steep snow covered slopes, gullies and cliff areas after the snowpack has softened significantly.
