Avalanche Activity

Watch out for wet avalanches and avalanches from soaked snow.

The snow cover in most places is settled and well consolidated. Due to plus temperatures and rain, the entire snow profile becomes waterlogged, which can result in the formation of wet avalanches, slides and basement avalanches. Their occurrence is sporadic and dependent on the snow depth and the substrate. It will be located on south to east orientations and mainly on steep to very steep slopes with grassy substrate.

Snowpack Structure

Snow cover is below average for the time of year. Up to 1500m above sea level it is strongly local and oriented mainly to northern and shady places. The surface is mainly firn snow or crust. Due to rain, soaking of the entire snow profile and the formation of slushy snow is expected.

Tendency

Warming and rain rising.
