The more recent wind slabs are mostly small. They can be released in isolated cases on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2400 m, especially in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain in extremely steep terrain. In some regions 5 to 10 cm of snow, but less in some localities, has fallen above approximately 2000 m.

The new snow is lying on top of a weakly bonded old snowpack in particular on steep shady slopes above approximately 2200 m. The old snowpack is faceted and weak. The sometimes strong wind will transport the fresh and old snow significantly. In high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. In all regions below approximately 2000 m from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.
