Avalanche Activity

New snow to above 1400 m. With the end of the precipitation, the natural avalanche activity will gradually increase.

The new snow will become increasingly prone to triggering in particular on steep shady slopes above approximately 2000 m. In particular in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation medium-sized avalanches are possible as a consequence of new snow and wind. Avalanches can in very isolated cases be triggered in the old snowpack and reach medium size.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow will be deposited on a weakly bonded old snowpack on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2700 m. This snow will be deposited on a crust below approximately 2600 m. The new snow is bonding only slowly with the old snowpack. Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted and weak.

Saturday: In some localities precipitation above approximately 2000 m: The danger of dry and moist avalanches will increase during the day.
