The sometimes deep wind slabs of last week remain for the foreseeable future prone to triggering at intermediate and high altitudes. They are to be assessed critically. Avalanches can be released in near-surface layers, even by a single winter sport participant. Caution is to be exercised adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls, and on steep slopes. At intermediate and high altitudes and on very steep slopes dry loose snow avalanches are possible, but they will be mostly small. In addition at the base of rock walls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain, individual dry slab avalanches are possible. They can in isolated cases be released in the old snowpack and reach quite a large size. The weather conditions will cause a slight rise in the danger of moist avalanches as the day progresses on very steep slopes. In the event of solar radiation this applies at low and intermediate altitudes.

In some localities up to 50 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen since Tuesday above approximately 2500 m. This applies in particular along the border with France and along the border with Switzerland. Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be good. The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust and will soften during the day. The sometimes strong wind has transported a lot of snow. At high altitudes and in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. The new snow of the last two days is lying on soft layers in all aspects above approximately 2400 m. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack in shady places that are protected from the wind, especially above approximately 2400 m.

The avalanche danger will persist.
