Avalanches can be released in the weakly bonded old snow, even by a single winter sport participant. Whumpfing sounds and the formation of shooting cracks when stepping on the snowpack serve as an alarm sign. The danger of moist avalanches will increase. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized moist loose snow avalanches are to be expected.
Snow depths vary greatly above approximately 2000 m, depending on the infuence of the wind. In addition, from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying. The old snowpack consists of faceted crystals. Weak layers exist in the snowpack especially on steep west, north and east facing slopes.
The danger will persist.
