Highlights

Triggering an avalanche will be possible for Wednesday. Human triggered wind slabs near and above treeline on north and easterly slopes will be the main problem. Dry loose avalanches will also be possible on all elevations and aspects. Consider easing into terrain by evaulating smaller/safer slopes. If you encounter any cracking or see any recent avalanches, seek slopes lower than 30 degree.

    On Tuesday, I found some cracking and triggered a few small wind slabs on small indicator slopes on north facing terrain around 7,400ft. Rapid wind loading was also observed at ridgelines near treeline. I expect wind slabs will continue to grow Tuesday night due to additional snow and moderate winds. 

    Wind slabs are often found below ridgelines and areas that catch snow near and above treeline. Look for pillow-like fetures, domes of snow, and wind effected textured surfaces. Look for safe test slopes to check for signs of instability. Carefully evaluate avalanche slopes on lee aspects and if in doubt, seek lower angle terrain.

    On Tuesday I found dry loose avalanches on steep slopes. With temps cooling Tuesday night and more snow forecasted, dry loose avalanches will be possible for Wednesday anywhere the snow was not wind effected. As temperatures warm up throughout the day, dry loose will become less of a problem. These avalanches will be on the smaller size (D1), but be aware of terrain traps (anything than can increase the consequence of a slide) such as gulleys, cliffs, creek beds, trees, etc. 

    Loose avalanches start from one point and entrain more snow in a fan shape. If you encounter dry loose avalanches, consider using sluff management techniques to avoid getting knocked over.
