Douglas Island

No signigicant changes in weather or snowpack leaves things much the same as yesterday.  Crust, supportable at higher elevations and breakable  at mids and lowers was the theme for yesterday, with things softening a bit at mid to lower elevations towards the end of the day. While those varying surface snow crusts should keep things pretty well locked up remember to practice good travel protocols while moving through avalanche terrain.  

A rather saturated snowpack followed by cooler temps has left us with a widespread crust that keeps us at low for the avalanche danger today.  Skiing and riding conditions were a bit rough yesterday which should unfortunately continue today.  The good news is more precip is expected tonight and through the day tomorrow. We will have to keep an eye on this new crust as a layer of interest moving forward but if weather predictions for the week hold true snowfall should start heavy and wet gradually getting lighter and drier throughout the week leading to a right side up snowpack.  Keep an eye out this week for new snow and signs of instability and keep those observations coming, many thanks to everyone has posted so far!
