Wind slabs have developed due to new snow and wind at higher elevations. The slabs sit on an icy refrozen bed surface. These slabs may be firm enough to lure you down a slope and then fracture above you. Ski cutting is not a good way to mitigate or test for this avalanche problem type. The risk of a natural avalanche to run out onto lower angle terrain will persist as long as you see snow drifting in the air. Lower angled terrain without much wind deposited snow is recommended over steeper slopes. If you are hoping for classic spring ski conditions today, you will not find them.
