The avalanche danger is Low today. The exception will be in very steep upper elevation terrain where newly formed pockets of shallow wind slabs have formed. Winds out of the northeast have created these small slabs in atypical locations. These slabs will be relatively small, in the 6-8" range, but large enough to knock you off your feet. In all other areas the snowpack is generally stable and avalanches are unlikely.

Tomorrow, you can expect more sunshine and temperatures in the teens in the mountains. Skies will be clear tonight though scattered clouds will build over the mountains during the day tomorrow. Wind will increase a notch to ten to fifteen mph from the west and northwest. Avalanche danger will remain Low with some wind slabs that were built yesterday possibly lingering at high elevations. The persistent slab problem is very unlikely to be triggered but given the nature of these layers, moving one at a time should continue to be the rule, especially in really steep, northerly terrain.
