Avalanche Activity

The strong wind has transported the fresh and old snow.

Dry slab avalanches are possible. The sometimes large wind slabs of yesterday can be released by a single winter sport participant in particular on steep east, south and west facing slopes above approximately 2200 m. Soft weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on shady slopes.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack remains unfavourable on wind-loaded slopes. In the last few days sometimes easily released wind slabs formed especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Also shady slopes where weaknesses exist in the old snowpack are dangerous.
