Highlights

By Saturday morning there will be enough new snow on the ground that Wind Slab avalanches will be possible to trigger.  Be careful on East slopes that are directly below ridgelines and steeper than 30 degrees.

    By Saturday morning some areas will have received over 6 inches of snow since Thursday evening. This relatively light snow has the potential to be transported and packed into East facing start zones.  This means that those Wind Slabs that were shallow and relatively harmless on Friday will be larger on Saturday.  The wind will be predominently from the West and Southwest.  If you choose to ski on East slopes at and above treeline, evaluate the Wind Slab problem on lower angle, safe slopes.

Avalanche Discussion

Continuous snow showers and cool weather have been a nice change from last weeks dry spell.  By Saturday morning much of the ski terrain could have 15 cm. of new snow since Thursday.  We haven't seen any persistent weak layers in our older snowpack.  Any instabilities related to avalanches will be in the new snow.
