Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: The wet snowpack will continue to thaw and consolidate. However, some instabilities will remain on steep North to East aspects above 1000 metres. Cornices above these aspects will be prone to collapse. Below 1000 metres stability will generally be good. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate

Forecast Weather Influences: Another mild day with period of rain is expected. The freezing level will remain well above the summits. Winds will be from the South. Observed Weather Influences: It was mild throughout with the freezing level above the summits. After some overnight rain the day was generally dry with just of odd light rain shower. Winds were from the South-West. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is wet throughout and slowly consolidating in the mild conditions. However, wet snow instabilities remain on North to East aspects above 1000 metres. Some substantial cornices remain above these aspects, and are prone to collapse. Below 1000 metres stability is better. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
