Low avalanche danger, 1st degree.
Due to moderate snowfall, a SMALL avalanche danger has been created in the Fatras. Avalanche release is only possible with additional loads on isolated, steep slopes, where a larger amount of new snow is piled up and where there are remnants of old hard snow under the new snow. Spontaneous avalanches are not expected.
During the last snowfall period of 2-3 days, 10 to 20 cm of new snow fell in the Fatras. It fell mostly on the grass surface and was blown by strong winds to leeward places and often to the forest border. Only on isolated slopes there is still old, frozen snow under the new snow. The snow cover is well below average. FK
