Avalanche Activity

In some localities increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation.

In steep rocky terrain and on very steep sunny slopes small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized natural avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation. Especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls: The fresh snow of Sunday and all the wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases. This applies in particular on very steep shady slopes.

Snowpack Structure

5 to 15 cm of snow fell on Sunday. The wind was light to moderate adjacent to ridgelines. Over a wide area new snow is lying on the soft surface of an old snowpack. Or on crusts. Towards its surface, the snowpack is weak in some cases; its surface consists of faceted crystals. Weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on steep shady slopes. Especially adjacent to ridgelines in all aspects: Over a wide area snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.

Tendency

The weather conditions will facilitate a gradual strengthening of the near-surface layers in particular on sunny slopes.
