HEADS UP! Yep, that's right, HEADS UP!
With much of Europe and the West Coast of BC having a difficult snow winter, Rogers Pass has been hit hard with visitors. This means there are a LOT of people above, below, and all around you.
A ridge of high pressure sets up over the province with gradual clearing in the Rogers Pass area today and tomorrow.
Today: Cloudy with sunny periods, trace to 5cm, light/mod W'ly winds, alpine high -12*C
Tues: Cloudy with sunny periods, no snow, light/mod W'ly winds, alpine high -13*C
Wed: Mix of sun and cloud, light SW winds, alpine high of -6*C
Another 10cm of snow overnight, bringing the weekly total to 105cm at Fidelity. Variable stubborn wind slab was found in alpine elevations yesterday along ridge-tops and exposed tree-line features. Steep S to SW aspects have a suncrust buried anywhere between 30-60cm below the surface.
Numerous slab avalanches to sz 2.5 were observed from steep alpine start zones on Macdonald and Tupper yesterday. A cornice failed in the North Cirque above Christiana Trees, bringing down a sz 2 slide into the basin.
