You can trigger an avalanche where new snow and strong winds built fresh slabs resting on old, weak snow. As the snow gets distributed more broadly across the terrain, be aware that the size of avalanches will increase, and plan your travel routes accordingly. If you notice signs of instability like shooting cracks in the new snow or audible collapses, consider moving to slopes less than about 30 degrees in more wind-sheltered areas.
