Avalanche Summary

You may be able to trigger avalanches where you find more than about eight inches of new or wind-drifted snow, especially on north and northeast-facing slopes near ridgetops.

Look for drifted areas below ridgelines, in steep gullies, and in other features that catch and hold the snow. If you encounter warning signs like cracking or collapsing, stick to lower-angle terrain or s. Even a tiny slide could knock you down and send you for a rough ride.
