Avalanche Summary

You may trigger an avalanche where winds drift new snow onto lee slopes in the alpine. A generally shallow and wind-hammered alpine makes avalanches small in size and limited to areas that hold previous snow coverage. Assess steep slopes with more than about 8 inches of wind-drifted snow for signs of instability. Avoid drifted areas if you observe cracking in the recent snow.
