Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche on north through east to southeast-facing slopes above the treeline on wind-loaded terrain features. You can identify these wind-loaded terrain features by their smooth, rounded, often wave-like appearance on the snow surface and the hard, hollow feel you will experience if you travel across them. Any avalanches you trigger will be small but they can still grow large enough to knock you over and take you for a dangerous ride. You can find safer travel options on wind-sheltered slopes where your feet, skis, or machine sink well below the snow surface.
