Considerably colder air will follow this system with mountain highs on Friday in the low teens. Strong Southwest ridge crest winds this evening are to lessen and veer to the Northwest Friday morning. The General Avalanche Hazard will be CONSIDERABLE on Thursday. New snow and wind are expected to form surface slabs to a foot in depth on steep lee slopes at higher elevations. These slabs will form upon firm melt-freeze and wind blown surfaces and will be sensitive to human triggers. In some areas the potential continues for humans to trigger deep hard slabs that would carry severe consequences.
