Avalanche Summary

A snowmobiler's close call on Thursday in the Leroux Creek drainage highlights that you can trigger a slab avalanche that breaks on a weak layer buried around two feet deep. You can trigger an avalanche from below a steep slope. Choose lower-angled terrain, less than about 30 degrees to avoid the problem, or move to lower elevation southerly-facing slopes.
