The general avalanche hazard is LOW. In areas that held snow prior to this weeks snow, shallow soft slabs have formed on weak, faceted snow and crusts. These slabs could be triggered by backcountry travelers in steep, wind loaded terrain today with depths to one foot.

High temperatures are expected to be in the twenties as valley inversions build and winds are to be from the Northwest at 10-15 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate at the higher elevations. Near ridge crests where significant wind loading occurred, pockets of soft slab to depths of eighteen inches could be triggered by skiers or riders. These slabs could be released only on very steep slopes where they are underlain by the older, weak snowpack. Avalanches are unlikely elsewhere.
