Avalanche Activity

Wind slabs require caution.

Light snowfall to low altitudes. In some cases the wind slabs have bonded still only poorly with the old snowpack. The fresh snow of the last few days as well as the sometimes deep wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in isolated cases. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and on wind-loaded slopes.

Snowpack Structure

Over a wide area new snow and wind slabs are lying on the smooth surface of an old snowpack. In particular at elevated altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. In particular at low altitude thus far only a little snow is lying.
