Avalanche Activity

Fresh wind slabs are to be evaluated with care and prudence.

Weak layers exist in the snowpack on shady slopes. As a consequence of new snow and a light to moderate southwesterly wind, soft wind slabs formed in the last few days in particular adjacent to ridgelines as well as at high altitude. Dry avalanches can still in isolated cases be released by small loads and reach medium size.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow is bonding only slowly with the old snowpack. The snowpack remains unfavourable also on wind-loaded slopes. Shady slopes where weaknesses exist in the old snowpack are dangerous.
