Avalanche Activity

Isolated avalanche prone weak layers exist in the snowpack especially on steep, rather lightly snow-covered shady slopes.

In particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and in shady places that are protected from the wind individual mostly small slab avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

Weak layers in the upper part of the snowpack can be released especially by large additional loads in particular on steep shady slopes. This applies in particular in little used terrain, as well as in areas where the snow cover is rather shallow above approximately 1800 m. Weak layers in the upper part of the snowpack are difficult to recognise.
