Avalanche Activity

The avalanche prone locations are to be found especially on very steep slopes at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions.

At low and intermediate altitudes the snowpack is well bonded. Weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on north, northeast and west facing slopes. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released by large additional loads in extremely steep terrain.

As a consequence of low temperatures and solar radiation the snowpack consolidated.
