At the high elevations, slabs to two feet in depth lie in very steep terrain under cornices and near cliff bands. The possibility exists for humans to trigger pockets of these slabs, however larger loads such as snow machines, groups of skiers, or cornice drops may be necessary to cause their failure. In isolated areas, a slight chance persists for deeper snow layers may be involved. Avalanches are unlikely at the mid and low elevations today except for in isolated pockets. Periods of sunshine and warming temperatures this afternoon could increase the sensitivity of slabs and provide the possibility of loose snow slides.

Skies are to remain mostly clear overnight and Friday although local areas could see brief periods of light snow. Temperatures are to increase to the low thirties and west winds are expected to increase slightly on Friday to averages near twenty miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate above 9000 feet on Friday. A slight chance persists for large triggers such as snow machines, groups, or cornices to trigger hard slabs to depths of five feet in steep rocky areas and under cornices. Avalanches are unlikely below 9000 feet except in isolated pockets. Increasing temperatures and sunlight during the afternoon may increase the sensitivity of the slabs as well as provide for the possibility of wet point releases and sunballing in steep terrain.
