Avalanche Summary

It is getting harder to trigger avalanches, but if you were to trigger a slide, it would be in a shallow spot on a steep slope where thick slabs of snow rest above weak, collapsible snow below. Potential trigger points for avalanches included below cliffs, convex roll-overs, rocky outcrops, and below ridgelines. Be aware of the terrain around you, as an avalanche could break wide and deep, and don’t get lulled into a false sense of safety if signs of unstable snow like shooting cracks or audible collapses are absent.
