Avalanche Summary

Steer around spots where you encounter more than about 8 inches of freshly wind-drifted snow on a steep slope. Look just downhill of ridgelines or along gully walls. Early in the day, you can trigger small slab avalanches in these spots. As new snow warms by midday, these same drifted areas could produce wet avalanches.
