Avalanche Summary

You can trigger a large avalanche on northwest through east to south-facing slopes. If you trigger a small slide near the surface, it can break into weak layers near the ground and create a wide and far-running avalanche. These larger avalanches can also be triggered from shallow areas of a slope like near exposed rocks and bushes. Look for and avoid recently drifted snow on leeward features as well as shallower areas of a slope near steep terrain. Choose where you ride carefully and avoid traveling on or underneath slopes greater than about 30 degrees.
