Strong winds and expected heavy snowfall will additionally load slopes in avalanche terrain today. Natural and human triggered slides will be possible in steep wind loaded terrain in the form of new shallow surface slabs or in larger slides that involve older snow. The avalanche danger will increase as the day continues, most signifiacantly at high elevations where the most wind loading is expected.

Snow will continue overnight and be lighter on Friday. Winds will remain strong causing periods of blowing snow and limited visibility before tapering down on Friday evening. Mountain temperatures will be in the teens. An avalanche warning has been issued by the Bridger-Teton National Forest Avalanche Center for the mountainous areas of Western Wyoming. The general avalanche hazard is HIGH. Mostly unstable snow exists on a variety of aspects and slope angles. Large natural avalanches are likely and could run full path. Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended.
