Avalanche Activity

Caution is to be exercised on steep north, east and southeast facing slopes.

Isolated avalanche prone weak layers exist in the old snowpack adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Avalanches can be released in the old snowpack in particular on steep, little used shady slopes. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation individual moist snow slides and avalanches are possible as the day progresses, but they will be mostly small. This applies especially on rocky sunny slopes.

Snowpack Structure

Faceted weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on little-used, rather lightly snow-covered shady slopes. As a consequence of rising temperatures and solar radiation a crust formed on the surface during the last few days. This applies in particular on sunny slopes.
