The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant. This applies in particular above approximately 2400 m. Large dry and moist avalanches are possible. The avalanche prone locations are sometimes covered with new snow and are difficult to recognise. In particular on steep shady slopes the avalanches can be released in deep layers of the snowpack and reach large size.

Above approximately 2000 m snow has fallen since yesterday in particular on the northern flank of the Alps. The wind will be moderate to strong. The new snow is lying on soft layers in particular on shady slopes above approximately 2500 m. In addition precarious wind slabs will form in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain as the day progresses. Individual weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack in shady places that are protected from the wind, in particular at high altitude.
