Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will continue to consolidate at all altitudes. Localised instabilities will persist within deeper windslab accumulations on North-West through North-East to South-East aspects mainly above 1000 metres. Areas most affected will be in steep and convex terrain, such as gully tops and coire rims. On these aspects, remaining cornices will be prone to collapse. Elsewhere the snowpack will be generally stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: It is expected to be dry throughout the forecast period with very strong South-South-Westerly winds. Summit temperatures will be around minus one to zero degrees C overnight, before rising to well above the summits during the day. Observed Weather Influences: A dry day with strong South-Westerly winds. The freezing level rose above the summits by early afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is thawing and consolidating at all altitudes. Localised instabilities persist within deeper windslab accumulations on North-West through North-East to South-East aspects above 950 metres. Steep terrain such as convexities, gully tops, and coire rims are most affected. Cornices overhanging these aspects are unstable. Debris from recent, wet snow intabilities was observed on a steep, convex Northerly aspect at 1100 metres. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
