Snowpack Structure

In some localities sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs formed. In some localities up to 2 cm of snow, but less in some localities, has fallen since Tuesday. The new snow of the weekend is lying on surface hoar in all aspects and generally at intermediate and high altitudes. Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted and weak.

Avalanche Activity

Adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls the avalanches can be released easily. In addition wind slabs formed especially in gullies and bowls in all aspects.

The wind was strong at times over a wide area. The fresh wind slabs are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls.
