Moist and wet avalanches are the main danger.
Moist and wet avalanches are the main danger.
Especially on very steep grassy slopes small and medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible above approximately 1800 m.
The snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations. The older wind slabs are to be found especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and generally at high altitudes. The weather conditions as the day progresses will give rise to rapid and thorough wetting of the snowpack in particular on grassy slopes at intermediate and high altitudes. As a consequence of the strong foehn wind the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent.
