Snowpack Summary

Tuesday morning, a few centimetres of snow will cover the thick crust formed by the cold temperatures of the last few days. This crust supports the weight of a skier in the mountains, and is crumbly in the valleys. The core of the snowpack is composed of a mixture of crusts and very compacted snow. There is very little snow at the base of the mountains, from 20 to 40 cm at mid-mountain and up to 80 cm in the areas of maximum accumulation. The summits were blown by the wind, and affected by the rain, exposing the ground in many places.
