High

  • We are confident due to a stable weather pattern.

Avalanche Summary

On Saturday, a rider triggered avalanche size 1.5 wind slab was reported in the Esplanades. This human-triggered avalanche occurred in a steep, open, rocky alpine feature.

Snowpack Summary

Widespread surface hoar continues to develop over a crust that extends up to at least 2000 m on all aspects, and to mountain top on solar aspects. On shaded north facing slopes, surface faceting is breaking down wind affected snow.

Surface hoar growth is largest in sheltered terrain features at treeline and below treeline and in some areas mixed with a few centimetres of fresh snow from isolated flurries.

Terrain and Travel Advice

  • Avalanche activity is unlikely when a thick melt-freeze crust is present on the snow surface.
  • A hard crust on the snow surface will help strengthen the snowpack, but may cause tough travel conditions.
  • Wind slabs are isolated, but may remain reactive.
  • Make observations and continually assess conditions as you travel.
