Avalanche Activity

On wind-loaded slopes a moderate avalanche danger will prevail.

Since Friday wind slabs formed in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. This applies in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation especially at intermediate and high altitudes. The rather small wind slabs of the weekend can be released in some cases in particular on steep shady slopes and generally at intermediate and high altitudes.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of new snow and wind, wind slabs formed since Friday in particular adjacent to ridgelines. In some cases the wind slabs have bonded poorly with the old snowpack. Over a wide area less snow than usual is lying. Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas as well as in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.

Tendency

The weather conditions will facilitate a gradual strengthening of the snow drift accumulations.
