Forecast Snow Stability: Localised areas of moderately bonded windslab will build in steep wind sheltered terrain, mainly East to South aspects above 650 metres. New cornice growth expected above same aspects. Instabilities will remain in residual windslab, steep North-East to East aspects above 750 metres, otherwise, the general snowpack will have good stability and will be very firm where the old snow is exposed. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Snow showers, merging into longer periods of snow is expected overnight, becoming scattered snow showers through the day. Strong North to North-Westerly winds, easing through the day. Freezing level 600 metres overnight, lowering to 100 metres by the end of the forecast period. Observed Weather Influences: A day of snow showers with rain below around 400 metres. Brighter around midday, more snow later. Light to moderate Southerly winds. Freezing level around 550 metres, lowering through the day. ObservedSnowStability: Localised areas of moderately bonded windslab are building in steep and very steep wind sheltered terrain, mainly on North to East aspects at higher elevations above 700 metres. Otherwise, the general snowpack has good stability and is very firm around summit levels where the old snow is exposed. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
