Avalanche Activity

As a consequence of warming during the day there will be a gradual increase in the danger of moist avalanches to level 2 (moderate).

As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation individual moist snow slides and avalanches are possible as the day progresses. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found on steep sunny slopes. Avalanches can be released in the weakly bonded old snow on steep shady slopes. This applies in particular in case of a large load. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. Even a small snow slide can sweep snow sport participants along and give rise to falls.

Snowpack Structure

The backcountry touring conditions are generally favourable. The surface of the snowpack will soften during the day. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on steep north facing slopes.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will persist.
