Forecast Snow Stability: Localised accumulations of unstable windslab will continue to develop on North through East to South-East aspects above 900 meters. Areas most affected will be wind sheltered locations where the snow has gained depth such as gully tops, corrie rims and the leeward side of ridge crests. Fragile cornices will continue to build on these same aspects. In wind exposed locations and at lower elevations, the snowpack is hard, icy and generally stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: Gale force Southerly winds will ease to strong North-Westerlies. Overnight snow showers. The freezing level will be around 700 meters. Observed Weather Influences: After a bright start the weather soon deteriorated. Very strong Southerly winds developed bringing frequent snow showers. The freezing level was around 950 meters. ObservedSnowStability: Generally, the snowpack is firm and stable in all areas. Localised accumulations of moderately bonded windslab are present on North to East aspects above 1000 meters. Areas most affected are wind sheltered locations where the snow has gained depth such as gully tops, corrie rims and the leeward side of ridge crests. New fragile Cornices noted on these same aspects. The avalanche hazard is Moderate
