Avalanche Activity

In some localities up to 30 cm of snow has fallen above approximately 1700 m. As a consequence of new snow and wind a moderate avalanche danger will prevail.

The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in extremely steep terrain above the tree line. The fresh snow and the wind slabs represent the main danger. In isolated cases avalanches are medium-sized and can be released also by a single winter sport participant. If more than 40 cm of snow falls danger level 3 (considerable) will be reached.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow and wind slabs represent the main danger. As a consequence of the new snow small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized avalanches are possible above approximately 1900 m. Moist avalanches below approximately 1800 m.
