Gradual increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the snowfall.
Gradual increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the snowfall.
Down to 1000 m and below snow will fall until the evening in some regions. The number and size of avalanche prone locations will increase as the day progresses. The fresh wind slabs can in some places be released by small loads, but they will be small in most cases. As the temperature drops hardly any more moist and wet avalanches are possible.
In some localities 10 to 30 cm of snow, but less in some localities, will fall until the evening above approximately 2000 m. The old snowpack is well consolidated and its surface consists of loosely bonded snow lying on a strong melt-freeze crust. In particular at intermediate and high altitudes there is still a very large amount of snow. As a consequence of new snow and wind the prevalence and size of the avalanche prone locations will increase on Monday.
