Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will remain stable, firm and icy on North to East aspects above 900 metres, while softer snow will remain on South-East to South-West aspects. Light snow will fall on the northern periphery of our area, although accumulations will be insignificant. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: A mostly dry day is expected with light snow showers above 800 metres on the northern periphery of our area. Winds will be moderate and from the North overnight backing to the North-North-West by dawn. The freezing level will be around 800 metres. Observed Weather Influences: A dry and bright day with some lingering cloud in the North and East of the Southern Cairngorms area. Winds were light and mostly from the North-North-East. ObservedSnowStability: A light dusting of snow covers many shady areas above 800 metres. The old snowpack is very firm and most extensive on North to East aspects above 900 metres. Softer snow accumulations are on South-East to South-West aspects. The avalanche hazard is Low.
